Spring - Winter - Spring - Winter - Spring?

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Wow - the weather has been playing us for the past few weeks.  First we get a few really nice warm days - lots of melting, then winter steps in and toots her horn again to the tune of 6 inches of snow a week ago.  Don’t worry it all melted during the next  day of two.  This past weekend Saturday was beautiful for our spring work weekend.  We spent time raking the front,  stacking wood, putting away the ski lights.   Sunday started out nice but got seadily colder and ended up raining all night. But as everything happens for a reason - the rain has taken a nice toll on the lake and it’s really turning black!  Looks like the Ice should be going out on time.  I’ll try to post pictures later.

Don’t forget the Gunflint Green up and Ham Run Half Marathon are this weekend!!  Don’t miss the fun.  We still have 2 camping cabins and 2 cabins open.

Spring Projects!

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

It may still look like winter around here, but we've begun working on spring projects.  I'm putting away the snowshoes, cross country ski equipment and snowmobile helmets, to make room for more camping supplies.  Bob spent a week or so sorting through the basement maintenance area and this past weekend he ripped the floor out of the campground bathhouse.  The boys were recently put in charge of the burn pile and road drainage.

I'm quite sure we won't run out of projects before the spring work weekend April 24th/25th as the list is long.   If you're sick of the city, come up and join us - $65.00 per person and 4 hours of work on Saturday morning gets you 2 nights in a cabin, and Lunch on Saturday.   If you want to stay longer you can add a night on either side for $30.00 per person.

The past few days the temps have been in the mid 50's dipping just into the freezing temps overnight - so good melting is finally underway.  Now if we could just get the sun to keep from hiding behind those pesky clouds!

Looking forward to summer!! - Shari
