on the Gunflint Trail

Pets welcome

Here at the Gunflint Pines we love Pets!  We have 2 English Springer Spaniels; Sota and Shadow.  Sota's name is taken from Minnesota.  She has assumed the position of camp greeter, and welcomes both guests and pets alike.  She will entertain you by opening the front door herself, and will guide you if you choose to hike the trial to Lonley Lake, Lookout Point or High Cliffs.

Shadow spends much of her day outside or in the entry of the lodge "chasing the light".  She likes any kind of light or shadow.  She often tricks guests into opening  the door for her - not so she can go in or out - but so the light might appear.

Your pets are welcome in the lodge, but must first pass Shadow.  We suggest a controlled meeting as Shadow is afraid of new dogs until introduced.  (Fear Agression).

We know pets are family members for many of you (us too).  They are allowed in all cabins and campsites but we do have a few common sense conditions since they don't always behave the same in strange places:

  •  Pets should be on a leash when outside.

  • Please do not leave them for extended periods of time alone in cabins or campsites (They're on vacation too!)

  • Pet sheets are available to cover couches or beds

  • Pet "accidents" must be reported immediately so we may attend to them prior to you're departure.

  • Pet fees apply to all reservations (unless stated otherwise)
